Climb for Cancer
The Foundation is grateful for the immense support it receives from donors all over the world but one notable mention for 2015 is Nizar Fakhoury, founder of "Climb For Cancer".
He recently completed the awe-inspiring '777' challenge - seven marathons on seven continents in just over 7 days – in honour of the Foundation and children across the world who are suffering from cancer.
Nizar ran marathons in Australia, UAE, France, Tunisia, the USA, Chile and Antarctica, and kept the Foundation's flag with him the whole way. We are inspired by Nizar's amazing feat and are so grateful for his efforts in raising awareness for The Foundation and paediatric brain cancer research on his journey around the world.

"Ultra Challenge Series"– Fundraiser for the Foundation!
Make 2015 a year to remember and take part in one of the "Ultra Challenges" in aid of The Lyla Nsouli Foundation. It's time to start training and get fundraising to take part in one of the UK's biggest endurance events for charity! There are 2 challenges remaining for the year to choose from and they're all listed here: http://www.ultrachallenge.com
These challenges are for anyone and everyone; whether you're a runner or walker, a beginner or experienced athlete, there's a challenge for you. With the multiple distance options of 25km, 50km or 100km – you can take part with a team of friends, family or colleagues or take the challenge as an individual, meeting like-minded challengers on the way.
These events are all fully supported, with rest stops, medics, free food & drink, marshals along the route and massages at various rest stops. At the finish line, you'll be welcomed back with a glass of bubbly, commemorative t-shirt and a finisher's medal to cheers and celebrations from family and friends! If that wasn't good enough, you'll go home proud of your achievement, safe in the knowledge that you've made a real difference in helping The Lyla Nsouli Foundation.
To sign up to any of these "Ultra Challenges" in aid of The Lyla Nsouli Foundation, please visit the website and follow the instructions to register. By taking part, you would be helping to make a real difference to DIPG research as well as experiencing a day you'll never forget.

The Foundation would like to sincerely thank Sandip Vaghela for his wonderful support for The Foundation. Sandip and his family tragically lost their little girl named Freya, in March of this year, to DIPG. Freya was nearly 3 years old and bravely fought her illness for 4 months after a diagnosis in September 2013. In the past few months, Sandip has already raised nearly £10,000 for The Foundation, in Freya’s memory. To learn more please click on the following link http://www.justgiving.com/Freya-Vaghela.
We would also like to thank Tom Woodward for recently completing the 26.2 miles of the London Marathon on the 13th April to raise funds for The Lyla Nsouli Foundation. Tom ran the London Marathon in memory of Freya Vaghela.
Finally, a sincere thank you to Remko Hilhorst for taking part in the Marcialonga, a 70km cross-country ski marathon in Italy. Remko undertook this great physical challenge to raise funds for The Lyla Nsouli Foundation and we are very grateful for his efforts and the contribution to the Foundation.

An Afternoon with The Gruffalo, with special guest Axel Scheffler
We very recently held a small fundraising event at The Electric Cinema – 'An Afternoon with the Gruffalo' on the 24th of April. Axel Scheffler, the illustrator of the world famous storybook The Gruffalo (now it’s 15th year since publication and translated into more than 40 languages) was a special guest at the event, which also featured a screening of The Gruffalo short film. He showed enormous generosity donating some of his incredible illustrations to help raise money for The Foundation. The afternoon was a wonderful, interactive and informal event where the children and guests were allowed to meet and chat with The Gruffalo himself and ask Axel questions about his illustrations while watching him draw.
Some images of the event can be viewed here
We would like to extend our thanks to Konditor & Cook, Lottie’s Bakery and Partridge’s for so kindly donating cakes and beverages for the event. Also a special thank you to Sharkey and George, and “George” the children’s entertainer for their continued support.
Thank you to Nicolas Tamari
We would like congratulate Nicolas Tamari for completing the NYC 2013 Marathon and raising $35,000 for the Foundation (http://www.justgiving.com/NicolasTamari).

Thanks to The KX Kayakers
The Foundation would like to thank the amazing KX Kayakers (http://www.thekxkayakers.co.uk/) for their valiant effort on behalf of the Foundation. The KX Kayakers are undertaking a 9 week, 800 mile-long expedition across the Caribbean from Grenada to Puerto Rico – in tandem sea kayaks. In the process, they aim to be the youngest team ever to have travelled this route in a kayak. Relying on human power alone and paddling unsupported, it is an extremely challenging journey. The KX Kayakers aim to cover a distance larger than the Dover-Calais stretch every other day. With many stints being over 30 miles long, the team are often be kayaking for over 12 hours non-stop, sometimes through the night. The longest stint (80 miles) will involve kayaking for over 30 hours straight. The whole expedition will be an enormous test of mental strength, physical endurance and character.
